Bauchi bags award on conversion of waste to wealth

Bauchi State waste Recycling plant has won the local content award for outstanding innovation in turning waste to wealth.
The award was given in recognition of the recycling plant’s effort in utilizing waste polymer products such as pure water sachets, processing secondary raw materials into pellets which are used by plastic companies to produce wide range of products.
The award which was organized by the Raw Materials Research and Development Council RMRDC had inventors, fabricators and innovators from across the nation who exhibited their products to the admiration of all present.
Speaking at the occasion, held at the Shehu Yar’adua Centre Abuja, the Director-General of the council, Dr Hussein Ibrahim who gave the award in Abuja at the end of the 12th Technology Exposition 2016 organised by the council, said in view of current economic downturn there is need to look inwards and develop appropriate technologies to move the nation forward.
He explained that the exposition and award ceremony had come at the right time in view of the dwindling oil revenues, adding that the need to diversify the economy cannot be overemphasized.
